Serve with love. That’s our mission, and it’s something we take very seriously at Burgerville. We believe that when people have an opportunity to sit with each other and share a meal, their shared humanity shines through. We think that our community needs more opportunities like that, not fewer. That’s why we’ve had a long-held, verbal policy that nothing on our menus or uniforms would tell our customers what to do or what to think.
Long-held but verbal.
The unwritten part was an error, and it left our team members without clear guidelines, creating a situation in which managers and crew members had different understandings of acceptable practices. We are now clarifying our policy. We are instituting an updated uniform policy, and buttons and other messaging – both political and personal – will not be allowed. We will work with our team members to make sure that our guidelines are clear, and we will provide a phase-in period to give everyone a chance to get any questions answered. And then we will move on.
In the end, it comes to this: Our job is to serve with love. Not to shout. Not to divide. That’s been our stance for over 50 years, and it’s the principle that will continue to guide us for years to come.
