This month, OSPIRG released its fourth annual Chain Reaction scorecard, calling out burger chains across the nation who have made a commitment to serve antibiotic-free meat. As a regional chain, we were awarded an honorable mention, which is the equivalent of receiving an A on the scorecard. We are pleased to be acknowledged for this practice, and we truly appreciate the evaluation and the recognition.
For Burgerville, ethical sourcing is an investment in our community and the future of our region. It’s better for human health, supports animal welfare, and is the right decision for our land and our water.
We’ve been serving antibiotic-free beef since we started working with Country Natural Beef more than 15 years ago. And by 2012, we had transitioned to 100% of our proteins coming from antibiotic-free sources. This standard has been important to Burgerville for a long time, and we believe it has a real, positive impact on our region.
We look forward to a time when this isn’t even remarkable. We hope to see the list of A-ranked restaurants continue to grow, and the practice of antibiotic-free meat becoming the norm. And we’d be happy to help other chains achieve that goal.
